Perfection can be a major turn-off, mainly because we all know that no one can really be perfect, and so, if somebody is trying to prove that they are, then it is probably their insecurities speaking out loud.
This is why it is always refreshing to see a star, who makes no qualms about being a normal human being with flaws, just like anyone of us.
Edie Falco does just that, as she talks about the less-than-perfect facet to her personality.
As one watches the actress in her role as Carmela Soprano, the perfect wife, who cannot step out of her house, without being fully-clad in makeup, it is difficult to imagine that she is not even close to her on-screen character, in her real life.
To start with, the actress admits that she cannot cook to save a day. In fact, the only meal that she is capable of conjuring is that of hard-boiled eggs, that too, not perfectly done!
She continues to talk about how terrified she was to learn that she had to play the mother to two children on the show, which explains why she has no biological children in her real life.
If one had to talk about the achievements of this woman, there has to be a mention of her four Emmy Award victories.
However, Edie does not gush about the Emmys, as one would expect, but instead remembers how humiliated she was at the 1999 award ceremony.
Recalling the incident, she says that being clueless about what’s in vogue, she walked into the Pamela Dennis boutique, prior to the show, to choose a dress for the occasion. She ended up in a dress that she describes as “outrageously uncomfortable”, and was named as the ‘sartorial disaster’ of the evening.
Anyhow, the bottom line is that it was at that very award function, that she won her first Emmy award.
